{"id":3164,"date":"2021-12-25T09:00:09","date_gmt":"2021-12-25T09:00:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/healthdrum.com\/?p=3164"},"modified":"2021-12-14T19:46:50","modified_gmt":"2021-12-14T19:46:50","slug":"the-prostate-cancer-spectrum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/healthdrum.com\/blog\/the-prostate-cancer-spectrum\/","title":{"rendered":"The Prostate Cancer Spectrum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Gleason 6 \u201ccancer\u201d fails to act as cancer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite low-power microscopic appearances suggesting a mild cancer, the very common Gleason grade 3 as in the Gleason 3+3 = 6 \u201ccancer\u201d fails to act like a cancer.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"line-height: 1.6;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Gleason 6 or, G6 lacks the hallmarks of cancer on both clinical and molecular biology grounds\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The G6 cell has a very long doubling-time of 475 +\/-\u00ad 56 days so that from mutation to a growth of about one cm (smaller than half an inch) in diameter takes some 40 years<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">About 50 percent of 50 year-old-men have unrecognized and asymptomatic areas of G6 disease in their prostate<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The prevalence of G6 increases with age<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That the G6 fails to evolve and harm men suggests it\u2019s part of the aging process<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Because of these findings, there is no justification for continuing to call the Gleason 6 either a cancer or a low-risk cancer<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Because of this knowledge the G6 doesn\u2019t need treatment.
